The purpose of this standard is to have a set of evidence that demonstrates students’ academic growth and learning. By gathering the data that shows their progress is important because it provides an idea of how far students have gone in terms of learning and where to start next instruction.
The three ways I demonstrated this standard are:
a) By documenting the progress of each student throughout the year.
b) By setting up measurable, achievable, and appropriate goals for the students.
This pdf paper demonstrates my reflection on the two-week unit I created. It also explains the goals I set up for the students and the strategies I used to achieve those goals.
I have had a student coming in my classroom in the middle of October. He was homeschooled before that, and it was his first time attending a school. To check his learning level and to know what he knows so far, I created three sets of tests just for him at the beginning. It gave me an insight of what he knew already and from where should I have started my instruction. I have provided individual as well as small group instructional time to him in my classroom to make him comfortable and ready to learn. Not only that, I also set up separate goals for him. Although those goals have not been fully met at the end of my student teaching, there was a definite progress by that time.
c) By providing evidence in any way to demonstrate that the goals have been met.
