Professionalism

The main purpose of professionalism standard is to ensure that teachers acknowledge it as their responsibility to maintain appropriate relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. It is very crucial for teachers to have a professional behavior with all the different entities and maintain that behavior throughout the teaching time. The primary goal of this standard is to ensure that students attain the best knowledge and learning chance under the guidance of highly professional teachers.

Below are the three ways I demonstrated this standard.

a) Incorporating learning from professional growth opportunities into instructional practice.

Professional organizations: I demonstrate my professionalism by becoming a member of various professional organizations. While learning many new things at Hollins University, I became a member of following organizations:

b) Engaging in activities outside the classroom intended for school and student enhancement.

Certifications: During my learning time at Hollins, I achieved the following certifications that will help me selecting appropriate and creative lesson plans for my students.

First aid and CPR certification Valid till 11/2018

Attended Beth Estill training on November 10, 2017 at Roanoke County central office, VA.

c) Building positive and professional relationships with parents/guardians as well as students through frequent and effective communication concerning students’ progress.
